Corbett Group Homes, Inc. is opening a new group home that is solely dedicated to
Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) May 1, 2014 in San Mateo County.
Corbett Group Homes, Inc. is extremely excited about this new venture as services
for CSEC is extremely limited in not only California, but the United States. Corbett
Group Homes, Inc. will be utilizing the Victim, Survivor, Leader Model ™ developed
and created by GEMS (Girls Educational and Mentoring Services, NYC). Corbett
Group Homes, Inc. CSEC Program is named the R.I.S.E House, and the modality of
empowering youth to evolve from victims to survivors and into leaders.
We will also work in partnership with other residential programs that are
located in Atlanta, GA (Wellspring) and The Gateways Program (The
Jewish Child Care Association) in Pleasantville, NY to utilize their expertise
and knowledge working successfully with this target specific population.
There are few residential programs in the United States that accept youth
from the foster care system and/or juvenile justice system that have been
identified as CSEC, so Corbett Group Homes, Inc. and The R.I.S.E.
Program aim to be part of the effort that to change the paradigm on
working with CSEC youth and empowering our youth from within to break
away from sexual exploitation.
The R.I.S.E. House will be a California Department of Social Services,
RCL 12, and Licensed Group Home Facility. The youth accepted into the
R.I.S.E. house will be from the foster care system and/or from the juvenile
justice system. We will also be working tightly with our local community
partners who have committed to the fight to end CSEC.
