in 2001, Corbett Group Homes, Inc. is a private non-profit organization providing
services to children and families.
Group Homes, Inc. delivers a unique spectrum of social services designed to
protect children at risk of abuse, neglect or abandonment; strengthen and
stabilize families; help young people break the cycle of abuse and neglect;
and find safe, loving homes for children.
Group Homes, Inc. (CGH) includes three Level 12 therapeutic group homes
which serves adolescent at-risk females (CGH #1) and coed adolescents (CGH #2 & #3). All three homes provide residential
services to youth who may have histories of physical, emotional, and sexual
abuse, often accompanied by substance abuse. Corbett Homes also cater to the needs of youth who struggle with sexual identity issues or already identify as LGBTQ. Corbett provides a safe, nurturing, accepting setting for youth to explore their identity without shame or judgement.
Many of the youth have been involved in the foster care system for a long period of time,
while some youth may be new to the Child Welfare System. The preferred age range for
all the homes is 12-17, however, the homes are licensed for ages 6-18 to be able to make
special accommodations if a need arises.
All of the homes are intended for an intervention, and hopefully, not long-term, as Corbett Homes do not believe that youth should grow up in a group home setting. However, occasionally, youth do reside in the group home setting for longer than ideal based on case plan and family situation.
One of the core values of Corbett Group Homes is maintaining school of
origin. By maintaining school of origin, we hope to minimize trauma
of placement changes with our youth, whether that is a removal from their
home due to abuse and neglect, or from a placement change. Corbett Group
Homes will transport to any school in Santa Clara County and select outlying
counties for all youth in placement.
Corbett Group Homes, Inc. is opening a new group home that is solely dedicated to
Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) May 1, 2014 in San Mateo County.
Corbett Group Homes, Inc. is expecting to get accredited by the Council on Accreditation
(COA) in May 2014.
